Machina Cinema + Photo Rentals, the new occupants of Chicago’s historic Kinowerks building (previously home to The Wachowskis), has opened its doors to the city’s video and photo production community.
Machina Cinema + Photo Rentals supports creatives with cutting-edge gear and unparalleled support. Their vetted lens and prep technicians take great care of their customers from prep through wrap – in addition to cameras and lenses, they rent G&E, audio, and production supplies.
Machina went with a 10ft Opti-Glide Compact on wheels to meet the needs of their growing and flexible company.

Their space boasts numerous dedicated prep and test areas, as well as a fully equipped theatre and viewing room, blackout studio, and green room.
Thanks to the design of the reversible 2-in-1 chart, the OG Compact can serve both Machina’s lens technicians and camera checkout clients equally. The motor + keyboard interface and crowd-favorite “hand crank” accessories ensure that the operator can work with precision and speed. On top of it all, this unit can be easily moved around their spacious facility by one person.
Similar to MYT Works’ origin story, Machina is like-wise founded by a cinematographer, photographer, and adventurer.
Machina’s founder, Myles Beeson, is an established photographer with passion for adventure, the outdoors, and extreme sports. His approach to cinematography combines vivid storytelling, technical abilities, and a focus on the human experience.
