Camera Calibration Testers & Systems
A camera calibration tester is a device or system used to evaluate and adjust the accuracy of a camera’s imaging parameters. It ensures that a camera produces consistent, precise images by verifying aspects such as focus accuracy, color balance, geometric distortion, and sensor alignment.
At its most basic, setups involve an optical chart, a camera on a tripod, bazooka, or workbench, a tape measure, and the eye of the operator. Other setups for camera calibration testing involve overhead chart systems, specialty targets, and even software systems. Our Opti-Glide family of systems gives rental houses, media companies, lens technicians and manufacturers special tools to calibrate quickly, efficiently, and with unparalleled accuracy.
In professional film and video production, calibration testers are often used to check back focus, lens centering, and optical performance, especially for high-end cameras from ARRI, RED, Sony, and others. These testers help ensure that a camera’s sensor and chosen set of lenses are perfectly aligned, reducing issues like focus shifts or image warping.
